iPhone Duo

The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable, and it is a genuinely new shape rather than a new size of an existing phone. That matters for accessories, because almost nothing from previous iPhones carries over. We are building this range as stock reaches Australia, and the notes below explain what to look for so you do not buy the wrong thing in the first few weeks.

What is different about protecting a foldable

A folding phone has two screens, a hinge, and no flat back to grip. Cases come in two halves that clip to each panel, so a case has to be made for this exact model. There is no cross compatibility with the iPhone 18 Pro or any earlier iPhone.

Hinge coverage: the hinge is the part that fails on a foldable. A case that leaves it fully exposed is doing half a job.

Two piece fit: both panels need to be held without stopping the phone closing flat.

Cover screen: the outer display is ordinary rigid glass, so it takes either polymer nano silicone or a standard tempered glass protector.

Magnetic mounting: check the magnets sit on the panel you actually put on the charger.

Can you put tempered glass on the inner folding screen?

No. Tempered glass is rigid by design and cannot bend, so putting it on a panel that folds will damage the display or the protector, usually both. This is the single most common mistake people make with a new foldable.

Polymer nano silicone is what belongs on a folding panel, and it happens to be the stronger protector anyway. It is a flexible film that bends with the screen and absorbs impact rather than shattering. It still has to be cut for this exact model, applied to a clean screen and worked out to the edges properly, so if you are not confident doing it we would rather fit it for you than have you peel a ruined one off a new phone.

One more thing worth knowing: foldables ship with a protective layer already bonded to the inner display from the factory. That layer is part of the screen, not an accessory, and it should not be peeled off. If it starts lifting or bubbling, that is a service job. We will publish Apple's own guidance for the Duo here once it exists.

Charging

The Duo supports fast wired charging over USB-C, reaching 50 percent in around 20 minutes on a suitable charger, plus magnetic wireless charging. We would rather list nothing than list a case that does not properly fit a folding phone.

Repairs

Foldable repair is a different job to a standard phone, and we will confirm what we can service on the Duo once parts reach Australia.
